‘Casper’ joined our hire fleet in May 2021 and has been a popular choice and dependable servant this summer. He’s not a rocket ship nor a show pony, but this is a well spec’ed, comfy, reliable and capable camper. Fitted with VW’s bombproof 1.9TDI engine, he has many good years of service left in him – and like all our vans, he’s been serviced regularly and cared for meticulously in our ownership. Obviously being a 2004 vehicle with nearly 175k miles (nothing for one of these!), he has some wear and signs of use consistent with his age and mileage.

Powered by the 1.9TDI 84PS engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox, this van is not the fastest on the road, but the engine offers bulletproof reliability and superb fuel efficiency (550 miles per tank!). Could be cheaply tuned to 110HP or beyond if the lack of acceleration speed bothers you!
Casper has been steadfastly reliable and we expect him to continue being so for a long long while yet, but we are replacing Euro 5 engined vehicles with euro 6 vehicles due to the extension of the London ULEZ.
Casper does have some signs of wear consistent with his age and use. Among these, some things to highlight are:
- Various marks and scratches to exterior – see pictures.
- Headlining in cab has cut marks – could easily be carpeted if it bothers you (or we could do this for you at a modest cost)
- Poptop roof canvas has one small opening in the mosquito net (could be easily sown) and while it does the job perfectly, it’s not the tidiest fit, owing to the vehicle being a midtop previously.
Casper will be sold with 12 months MOT but due to his age and mileage, we are unable to offer a warranty. He is therefore sold as seen with no warranty given or implied – you must make your own inspections and satisfy yourself of the condition of the vehicle. He has just had full cambelt service with good quality parts and long life oil, receipts will be provided.
Please note: Negotiable at additional cost are a set of BMW 132 alloy wheels with good load rated tyres, he had these when he arrived and they do smarten him up compared to the standard steel wheels.
